In Kuzbass, a modern fire extinguishing system is being created for industrial transport.

The development by Kemerovo engineers of the company "SSPB" will solve the problem of involuntary activations of automatic fire extinguishing systems (AFES) on industrial transport, which occur due to untimely maintenance of equipment and electromagnetic interference. As a result, unauthorized launches of AFES lead to forced downtime and losses.

Kuzbass engineers have implemented the CAN protocol (CAN - a standard aimed at integrating various actuators and sensors into a single network) in the data transmission process for controlling and monitoring fire safety equipment. This has provided high protection against interference and malfunctions, ensuring the stability of operation. In emergency cases, the system will activate precisely in the zones where a fire is detected, rather than activating the entire system.

The implementation of the CAN protocol will also reduce repair and maintenance time for the fire extinguishing system due to address-based diagnostics of modules, allowing for quick identification of the fault location, and the use of smaller-sized cables will reduce capital costs for installation and service. The new AFES is made with an intrinsically safe design. In addition, the developed control unit will allow integration into unmanned and robotic transport, as well as provide the ability to interact with dispatch control and management programs.

The development by the Kuzbass enterprise has received high marks from federal development institutes. In 2021, the company passed the competitive selection under the "Commercialization" program of the Foundation for Assistance to Innovation and received a grant of 20 million rubles. In June of this year, "Inventum" - a subsidiary company of "SSPB" implementing the new AFES project, received the status of a "Skolkovo" participant and can now use all the services of the innovation center - tax and customs benefits, grant and mentorship programs, as well as other support measures, while being in Kuzbass.
