Project Summary for SSPB-TUNGUS
LLC "SSPB" has been developing, installing, and maintaining an automatic fire extinguishing system since 2014. This system is designed to provide fire protection for heavy-duty quarry transport, surface mining equipment, logging, construction, and factory equipment, as well as vehicles.
Project Goals:
To create a new automatic fire extinguishing system using the CAN protocol for data transmission, based on the developed "SSPB-TUNGUS-01A" system.
Problem Description:
Since 2014, LLC "SSPB" has been developing, installing, and maintaining the "SSPB-TUNGUS" automatic fire extinguishing system. Over this period, the company has installed more than 526 automatic fire extinguishing systems on quarry equipment and vehicles, with 60% of them under continuous technical maintenance by LLC "SSPB".
Following customer inquiries, such as those from PJSC "Uralmashzavod" and technical requirements from OJSC "BelAZ", and in line with global trends, LLC "SSPB" decided to develop an automatic fire extinguishing system that is managed and controlled via the CAN protocol. Several domestic manufacturers of quarry equipment and transport are working on developing and implementing unmanned control systems and robotic control systems, for example:
Currently, unmanned quarry dump trucks BELAZ-7513R are being tested at the Chernogorsky coal mine in Khakassia, working in tandem with a robot excavator from PJSC "Uralmashzavod"; An unmanned KAMAZ-43118 vehicle is undergoing testing at the Listvyazhnaya mine in Kuzbass.
Foreign companies are also working on developing and implementing unmanned control systems and robotic control systems, for example:
Caterpillar has been developing unmanned dump trucks since 1996. By 2017, more than 100 unmanned dump trucks were operating worldwide;
Komatsu introduced a prototype of an unmanned quarry bulldozer in 2013 and a prototype of an unmanned quarry dump truck in 2016.
Existing automatic fire extinguishing systems on transport do not allow integration into robotic systems.
Harsh operating conditions, continuous operation, and untimely repair of electrical equipment lead to unauthorized launches of automatic fire extinguishing systems. This results in downtime of expensive quarry equipment necessary for recharging and restoring fire extinguishing systems, leading to losses for the customer.
To minimize false activations of fire extinguishing systems, the most effective methods for increasing reliability and interference protection must be applied.
To maintain the operational technical condition of the automatic fire extinguishing system, periodic technical maintenance is required. Most quarry transport operates in continuous mode. For technical maintenance, the customer has to stop working processes, incurring losses.
Reducing the time required for technical maintenance and repairs are important tasks set by the customer for the contractor..
