The main causes of vehicle fires are

• prolonged operation of equipment (several hours in a row or even around the clock)
• use of flammable liquids for work (oil, gasoline, diesel fuel, lubricants, and hydraulic fluids)
• excessive heating of key components of vehicles (cylinder blocks, manifolds, turbochargers, braking systems), which can lead to ignition when accidentally exposed to flammable liquids or other flammable objects.

Equipment fires in most cases lead to significant unplanned material costs due to expensive equipment repairs or complete replacement, as well as the cessation of ongoing activities. And, most importantly, it can lead to serious injuries to the maintenance personnel.

Often, quarry equipment operates almost around the clock, performing heavy work under difficult operating conditions.

There is a large amount of flammable liquids in the running gear and working organs of machines - diesel fuel, hydraulic oil, gasoline, lubricating oils, and greases. During operation, the equipment is exposed to contamination by easily flammable substances: coal dust, oil spills, debris, and waste. Moreover, many units and systems of machines - engines, manifolds, turbochargers, brakes - heat up so much that they can cause ignition of anything that can burn.
